Independence Day Award

I was honoured to attend the Flag Hoisting ceremony this morning celebrating the 72nd Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Pakistan in Manchetser today and partake in the flag hoisting ceremony.

It was great to see members of the community actively partaking with a wide range of music, instrument and dance performances.

I was also honoured and delighted to receive an award from the government of Pakistan presented to be by the General Consul of Pakistan and senior British Pakistani politicians.

14th August 2019 marks the 72nd anniversary since Pakistan has been independent and is a day of celebration and joy. It is important to remember the decades long struggle of Quaid e Azam. Pakistan is a young country with a old history, and there is so much to be proud of.

However, it is important today to remember the suffering of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and that the Pakistani government and people will support them.
